Gerard McIsaac


A proud graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School, Mr. McIsaac has been highly recognized as a professional performer and dance educator for over twenty-five years. His vast experience as a professional adjudicator (15 years) and unique ability to inspire dancers to achieve their highest technical and performance potential is well respected throughout the dance industry.

Mr. McIsaac has taught classical ballet, theatre jazz at several prestigious institutions, including Canada’s National Ballet School, and continues his affiliation with NBS in a variety of teaching roles.  He has also taught professional level ballet classes at several dance studio’s in the greater Toronto area and is a Ballet and Broadway Jazz Master Class facilitator for prestigious dance related events, including DANCE FUSION, On The Floor, RAD World Convention “En Avante”, Rock the Rhythm, Dance Quest, and Dance Master of America, to name a few. Mr. McIsaac is also a full-time Ballet Master at several recognized competitive dance institutions within the greater Toronto area, instructing students from age’s 5-19.

Mr. McIsaac is the Owner and Artistic Director of DANCE DIRECTION – a professional based training ground for aspiring and working professionals within the dance/performance industry. DANCE DIRECTION was born out of Mr. McIsaac’s passion to provide Master Mentorship to community who have expressed their desire to for a positive, uplifting, and safe space to continue honing, perfecting and exploring their chosen crafts via Classical Ballet movement. Mr. McIsaac is thrilled to have collaborated with one of Toronto’s leading professional dance institutions, CCDT (Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre), as the current home for DANCE DIRECTION to thrive.  He currently facilitates advanced professional ballet classes, along with training an impressive roster of private clientele from both CCDT and NBS studio locations.

Certification’s include: Diploma with Distinction from the NBS Teachers Training Program for Former Professionals (TTPPD, Dip), Mutually Recognized Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD, MRT), ballet faculty member with Dance Masters of Canada (DMC) and International Dance Teachers Association of Great Britain (IDTA), and Professional Adjudicators Alliance (PAA).  He was also the recipient of the 2013 Carole Chadwick Award and 2014 Sylvie M. McPhee Award, presented by NBS ballet faculty for Outstanding Teacher Recognition.  During his training at NBS Mr. McIsaac had the privilege of been mentored by renowned Ballet Masters such as Mr. Sergiu Stefanschi, Ms. Debra Bowes, Ms. Laurel Toto (head of NBS Professional Junior Ballet Program), Ms. Teresa Randall, and Ms. Anuschka Roes (head of NBS TTP Program), among others.

Mr. McIsaac also mentors artists for the Youth American Grand Prix and is a sought out Master Class instructor for Master Class workshops in Classical Ballet, theatre jazz, conditioning for dancers and movement pedagogy for teachers.  He is particularly experienced and passionate about merging the pedagogical, scientific, and artistic components of movement as a gateway to progress within all genres of dance, and his Intensive Workshop resumé is vast.
